Dante Pettis is paying for dinner and hitting dingers

The San Francisco 49ers flew to Houston on Monday following practice, and rookie wide receiver Dante Pettis has had a busy 24 hours. Pettis is tracking things via Instagram with a Story, which you can check out here.

A couple parts of the Story stood out. The first is him seemingly going through the rookie hazing of paying for dinner for his position group. The bill came out to $5,454.45. I’m guessing Richie James and Steven Dunbar did not have to chip in nearly as much as Pettis, if anything at all. As the 44th overall pick, Pettis was in line for a signing bonus of $2,734,952, per Over The Cap. As the 240th overall pick, James was in line for a signing bonus of $76,572. Dunbar signed as a UDFA, and reportedly received a $5,000 signing bonus.

All of this is to say, I hope Pettis was paying most if not all of the bill.

Today, Pettis is on hand for the Houston Astros game against the Colorado Rockies. His dad, Gary Pettis, is the Astros third base catch. The younger Pettis took some batting practice before the game, and he launched some dingers. Impressive stuff from the 49ers rookie!

Here are a couple photos from batting practice.
