Preseason Week 2 game thread

Fooch’s update: We’re back for Friday preseason action. The national game features Cleveland hosting Buffalo on NFL Network at 4:30 p.m. PT. I guess it’s the Tyrod Taylor and Corey Coleman revenge matchup? Baker Mayfield will be the player to watch in this one. Atlanta is hosting Kansas City at 4 p.m., and that means a chance to see more of Patrick Mahomes. He’ll likely get a quarter of action in this second preseason game, and it’s getting fun watching that arm in action.

The San Francisco 49ers get going on Saturday at 5 p.m. PT, but in the meantime, we’ve got a busy schedule of Thursday and Friday preseason action. The action gets going at 4:30 p.m. with the New England Patriots hosting the Philadelphia Eagles. At 5 p.m., the Green Bay Packers kickoff at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Washington hosting the New York Jets. The Jets game will air on ESPN.

It’s hard to call preseason games “fun,” but Washington vs. the Jets is an intriguing one primarily because of Sam Darnold. He is pushing for the starting job right out of the gate, and will see significant work on Thursday night. I don’t know if he’ll ever work out for the Jets, but he has been impressing thus far.

This will serve as our Thursday and Friday game thread. We’ll bump this back up to the top Friday evening when Falcons-Chiefs and Lions-Giants kicks off at 4 p.m. PT.
