Who will start vs. the Chargers from top of the 49ers depth chart?

The 49ers close out the preseason on Thursday, which means plenty of starters resting. Who will be starting?

The San Francisco 49ers released their preseason Week 4 depth chart, and more than any other in the preseason, this one puts the “un” in unofficial.

The 49ers PR department puts together the depth chart based on their own observations and discussions. It is not an official coaching staff depth chart, thus the “unofficial.” And for the final preseason game, it’s all the more unofficial. We know that most of the team’s starters will not be playing in this game. We’ll see some starters get work, but the inactive list will likely be at or north of 20 players.

With that in mind, I thought it could be fun trying to predict who the starters will be this Thursday. There are roster spots still up for grabs, so I would not be surprised to see both Joshua Garnett and Jonathan Cooper in the lineup. Cooper got some left guard work last week, so it would not surprise me to see Garnett and Cooper at the guard positions, and Mike Person in at center.

Injuries resulted in several notable names missing significant preseason action. That includes defensive linemen Arik Armstead and Solomon Thomas, and nickel back K’Waun Williams. I could see them maybe getting some work, but I have a feeling the coaching staff will be happy with them just getting their practice reps in and then calling it a day. And so, I’ve slotted in Jullian Taylor and Cassius Marsh for Armstead and Thomas, and D.J. Reed for Williams.

I thought about leaving Mike McGlinchey in the lineup. The more snaps the better for him, but I think he gets the day off to close out the preseason. I’ve got Pace Murphy and Darrell Williams in the starting lineup at the tackle positions.

What do y’all think?
