The 49ers have been in training camp for a week and things are looking really good. Jimmy Garoppolo is looking like the franchise player we gave trainloads of money to, he is even getting better with the deep pass to Marquise Goodwin. Speaking of wide receivers, not only is Goodwin picking up where he left off last season, Pierre Garcon, Donte Pettis, Kendrick Bourne, and Richie James are looking extremely good as well.

Moving on to our running backs, I have only heard great things about Jerrick McKinnon, Matt Breida and Joe Williams. There are a lot of great things being said about George Kittle too. Our line is mostly shaping up with plenty of compliments being directed towards Joe Staley, Mike MdGlinchey, Weston Richburg and Laken Tomlinson. The only place we might have a slight problem is right tackle. I was hoping a real battle would be shaping up between Joshua Garnett and Jonathan Cooper but fortunately there is still a month of training camp left so hopefully it will still happen.

We brought in a coach to concentrate on our pass rush and from the reports coming out of training camp, our defensive line seems to be responding well. Malcolm Smith has finally returned from injury but he and Brock Coyle, who is currently out with an injury, have their work cut out for them if they want to keep the starting job away from Fred Warner. Warner seems to be taking full advantage of his first string snaps.

Colbert, Sherman, and Witherspoon have all been having the kind of camps we had expected from them but I was hoping to hear more about the other young players in our secondary.
