Our final preseason game has been played and it is time for the cuts. Even though most of the players players getting cut have known their odds of making the team were pretty slim from the moment they came to camp, you still have to feel for them. Most of them have been working hard to achieve their dream of making it in the NFL for many years.
Now it is time to see what our team really looks like. Will our offensive line hold up? How many times will Mike Person have to be blown off the line before Kyle Shanahan switches to Joshua Garnett? How good is Jimmy Garoppolo and our group of wide receviers? Will our running backs be good enough?
On defense, will we have a pass rush? Will Richard Sherman and Ahkello Witherspoon live up to expectations? Will Malcolm Smith still be a starter after Reuben Foster returns or will Fred Warner take his starting job away from him?
The biggest question of all will be how many games will we win? Some Niners Nation fans are going to be very disappointed if the 49erss don’t make it to the playoffs. I personally am way more interested in our team showing a noticeable improvement over how they played last season and seeing where they still need to improve. I would not be disappointed to see us go to the Super Bowl but I really see us as a team that is still in rebuilding mode.
