Colin Kaepernick is back in the news, thanks to EA Sports removing him as a free agent from Madden 19 (strange) and scrubbing references to his name from music in the OST.
That hasn’t stopped people from mocking the whole situation I refer to as “scrubgate.”
The folks over at Sports Illustrated’s Instagram account decided it’d be funny to continue the censorship and made a video that offers nothing more than laughing enjoyment. We know Kap is out of Madden 19, but what if you use him in a prior version of Madden? They made him just a black rectangle with censored across it, similar to what you’d find with obscene content in a network television show.
This whole scrub-gate controversy isn’t going away anytime soon and will definitely add fuel to the fire over Kaepernick’s blackball claims against the league. EA has offered an apology for removing the Kaepernick name references from the music, but I tend to wonder more if they were sorry it was scrubbed or sorry that people figured it out so quickly.
In any case, this is good for a laugh. If you can’t see the video below, go here.
