When the 2018 draft rolled around I continually beat the hammer down saying, “O-line, O-line, O-line”.
Aaaaaaand it looks like I get to do that for another year. The 49ers need a guard. Badly. I don’t know if i can have faith in Mike Person given how many stops around the league he’s had, Joshua Garnett for being unable to stay healthy, and Jonathan Cooper because he’s just NOW getting on the field.
The sad part is, what really was the alternative? I know I threw my lunch when I saw Dante Pettis getting drafted, but when I see him on the field (his fluid route running is something to behold if you haven’t seen it yet) I say “oh thaaaat’s why they got him.”
But come on, this O-line is still going to have some patchwork thanks to no one having a clue who is going to play right guard. I hope I’m pleasantly surprised. I also have faith in Kyle Shanahan’s system where guard isn’t exactly as important as left tackle with that offense. But I also fear I’m going to be saying “Where’s the bloody right guard?!” when the season rolls around.
Onto some links.
