49ers release final practice injury report before Cowboys preseason game

We can start to read into things a little bit.

The San Francisco 49ers host the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday in their preseason opener, and Tuesday’s practice is the final one of the week that will be open to the media. That also means we get our final pre-practice injury report before Thursday’s game. Kyle Shanahan will likely offer some updates in his press conference this afternoon (his last before the game), but the injury report offers some names we know for sure won’t be playing.

The injury report has not changed from Monday, aside from a different set of players getting a recovery day. Otherwise, the out and limited players are all the same.

We can say with almost certainty that defensive tackle Arik Armstead, cornerbacks Richard Sherman and K’Waun Williams, and offensive linemen Joshua Garnett and J.P. Flynn will not be playing this Thursday.

Cole Wick has been day-to-day the past two days. I’m guessing he doesn’t play, and if so, Ross Dwelley would see more work. Brock Coyle, Fred Warner, and Mark Nzeocha will all get in limited work on Tuesday. Of that group, Warner would seem the most likely to play given his rookie status. Coyle has been around long enough that I could see him getting a rest for this first game. Nzeocha has some solid experience as well, so again, a rest on Thursday would not be entirely shocking.
