Schefter: 49ers to bring in two pass rushers for visits, workouts

The 49ers lost Dekoda Watson to a hamstring injury, and are now holding workouts to find some depth.

The San Francisco 49ers are looking for some help in their pass rush. The team is bringing in outside linebacker/defensive ends Erik Walden for a visit and Hau’oli Kikaha for a workout, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Both could potentially fill the reserve role previously occupied by Dekoda Watson.

Both are listed as linebackers, but in reality they are more likely to be options in getting at the passer and setting the edge. Walden had 11 sacks two seasons ago for the Indianapolis Colts, but has struggled to generate much interest in the market. He played for the Tennessee Titans last season on a one-year deal, and then spent some time in camp with the Seattle Seahawks this year. Kikaha had four sacks in 2015 and four sacks last season, but has had three ACL surgeries, and ended up on IR last season with an ankle injury.

The 49ers depth chart has taken several hits recently, and we could see more workouts in the coming days. Linebacker Brock Coyle is dealing with a concussion, and right guards Mike Person and Joshua Garnett are both dealing with foot injuries of an indeterminate nature.
