The San Francisco 49ers will be without wide receiver Marquise Goodwin. He suffered a calf injury and Kyle Shanahan announced he is formally out for Sunday’s game. Rookie Dante Pettis will start in his place opposite Pierre Garçon. This also means we should see Richie James active for his first game of the year.
Guards Joshua Garnett and Erik Magnuson are both ruled out as well, while Mike Person is listed as questionable. Shanahan confirmed that Najee Toran will get the start at right guard. If Person is active, he would be the primary backup, but given the confirmation on Toran, I have a feeling Person will be inactive on Sunday.
Adrian Colbert and Malcolm Smith are both listed as questionable. Both were DNPs at practice on Wednesday and Thursday, and then upgraded to limited on Friday. Smith was listed as doubtful last week, so this is a step up. I would not be surprised if he was inactive this week, but maybe he finally gets out on the field.
Here’s the team’s full final injury report.
Out: Marquise Goodwin (calf), Joshua Garnett (toe), Erik Magnuson (hamstring)
Questionable: Adrian Colbert (hamstring), Mike Person (foot), Malcolm Smith (hamstring)
