The San Francisco 49ers cut down to 53 players on Saturday, and is slowly processing through waiver wire claims to fill additional needs on the roster. The waiver period passed at 9 a.m. PT, and teams are being notified of who they successfully claimed.

As we wait for that news, the team is also about to begin assembling its 10-man practice squad. Players that clear waivers can sign to a practice squad beginning at 10 a.m. PT. For those wondering, if a player is claimed off waivers, they have to stay on the 53-man roster. To move them to the practice squad, they must be again waived. You can read full practice squad rules here.

On Saturday, Kyle Shanahan said the team plans on signing Nick Mullens to the practice squad if he clears waivers, and John Lynch said he hopes Pita Taumoepenu clears waivers and re-joins the team with the practice squad.

We’ll update the list below as names come in. The 49ers do not have to sign a full ten-man squad today. They might wait for more players to clear waivers tomorrow and into the week. While we wait for news, you can follow the Niners Media twitter list.
