The San Francisco 49ers have officially filled nine of the ten spots on their practice squad. The list includes the following, with the tenth spot likely to be filled by former Los Angeles Chargers offensive lineman Zach Golditch.
WR Steven Dunbar Jr.
TE Ross Dwelley
CB Emmanuel Moseley
QB Nick Mullens
DB Tyvis Powell
DL Niles Scott
LB Pita Taumoepenu
OL Najee Toran
RB Jeff Wilson Jr.
There are two names absent that are of note. Cole Hikutini was beat out by Cole Wick for a spot on the 53-man roster, and he was also beat out by Ross Dwelley for a spot on the practice squad. Additionally, Jeff Wilson beat out Jeremy McNichols for a spot on the practice. Of course, in light of Jerick McKinnon’s ACL injury, McNichols could very well score a spot on the 53-man roster.
A practice squad player is signed to a contract with the team, but he is allowed to leave the 49ers and sign elsewhere at any time. If a practice squad player signs with another team’s 53-man roster, he must remain on the roster for three weeks, or at least be paid for three weeks.
