Reuben Foster excited to be back, ready to face ‘fast as hell’ Chiefs offense

The San Francisco 49ers welcome back a critical piece to their defense this week with the return of linebacker Reuben Foster. He was suspended the first two games of the season, and was able to re-join the team on Monday following the 49ers Week 2 win over the Detroit Lions.

Foster met with the media on Thursday, and Cam Inman got some video of a couple minutes of the session. You can watch it below. Foster opens talking about how he watched the Lions game.

“I can honestly say I was a true fan, I was a true fan. I was at the store about to get me some chicken — no, not Chik-Fil-A, because the game’s on Sunday. Five Guys! And, I seen some play, what play, I seen a play, just know, I seen a play. And I just rushed home and was watching the game at the house — really going in on the TV and just being a true fan and cheering my brothers on.”

It would seem like he forgot what time the game was started, thus the rush home. And clearly he is a big Chik-Fil-A fan given how he quickly remembered they couldn’t have been open for the game since it took place on a Sunday and they are closed on Sundays.

Foster also talked about Monday being like a holiday in getting back to practice. Until this week he was able to attend meetings and do conditioning work, but he could not practice with the rest of the team or be with them on the sidelines on game day. He also talked about “playing [his] cards right” and, “doing good off the field and on the field. Just don’t do nothing off the field, so I won’t be off the field again.”

The 49ers face a Chiefs offense that has ridiculous speed up and down the roster. Foster said he has been watching Chiefs film for over two weeks now, and they are physical and “fast as hell.” We won’t see him deep on Tyreek Hill by any means, but I imagine he gets some work against All Pro tight end Travis Kelce.
