Shanahan: Marquise Goodwin is game-time decision, Richard Sherman, Ahkello Witherspoon should play

The San Francisco 49ers will run through their final practice in Santa Clara on Friday, but we likely won’t get all the answers we’re hoping for on the final injury report for Week 3 vs. the Kansas City Chiefs. Head coach Kyle Shanahan offered some updates Friday morning about wide receiver Marquise Goodwin, and cornerbacks Richard Sherman and Ahkello Witherspoon.

Goodwin has been dealing with a quadricep injury he suffered early in the team’s Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Shanahan said Goodwin still is not quite there yet in being ready, and he is a game-time decision. The team will have a practice in Santa Clara on Friday, and then a walkthrough in Kansas City on Saturday. They’ll assess him after the walkthrough, and then once again after pre-game warmups on Sunday. For now, Shanahan described him as 50-50.

Richard Sherman was added to the injury report on Thursday with a heel injury. Shanahan described it as wear and tear and they wanted to be smart with him. However, Shanahan said Sherman will be on the practice field on Friday and expects him to play on Sunday.

The same holds true for Ahkello Witherspoon, who has been limited with an ankle injury. There was no update on Jaquiski Tartt and his shoulder injury.
