The San Francisco 49ers appear set to start Mike Person at right guard this Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, but that is not entirely clear at this point. Joshua Garnett has been pushing for the job, and on Wednesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan would not firmly nam Person the starter.
When asked if Person would start on Sunday, Shanahan simply said Person is leading it right now. He then said that it does not mean Garnett cannot pass him up. He sees Garnett as being a “little” behind Person, and this would be a season-long competition.
Who do you think ends up starting more games between these two? I have a feeling Garnett has the momentum to take over the job, but how soon is the question. I’ll guess sometime before the end of the first quarter of the season, but injuries could shake that up quickly. What’s your prediction on who starts more games?
