The first Sunday of the 2018 regular season brought some good (Seahawks and Cardinals) lost and some bad (49ers lost), but football is back. We close out the first Sunday of the season with the Green Bay Packers hosting the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football.
The Bears have been in the news thanks to the addition of Khalil Mack last weekend. Their defense was already making strides under coordinator Vic Fangio, and adding a dominant pass rusher like Mack only adds to it. He is expected to be on a pitch count, but he is an impact player even on limited work.
Meanwhile, the Packers have Aaron Rodgers back after his broken collarbone cost them big last season. His return provides an old guard vs. new guard matchup as he will be opposed by Mitchell Trubisky. The Bears offense added some playmakers for Trubisky, and expectations are growing in the Windy City.
The Packers are sitting at between 6.5 and 7 point favorites at the moment. They were up at 7.5 points, so if you waited to bet on them, you might have landed that key number under a full touchdown. I’m taking the Packers to cover, even though I made the pick when the line was at 7.5. The Bears are intriguing, but I think we see big things from the Packers tonight.
