On Monday, Jeff Hafley, the 49ers’ defensive back coach, accepted a position on the Ohio State coaching staff. He will now be the Buckeyes’ co-defensive coordinator. That leaves one coaching vacancy for the 49ers to fill. The 49ers’ secondary is young and the team needs a coach to develop that young talent. They had a NFL-low 2 interceptions this season and they dealt with multiple injuries. If they expect to be a top defense, they will need to have a huge turnaround in the turnover department and keep their players on the field.
GM John Lynch was given a front row seat to see a few potential draft picks with the National Championship having taken place in Levi’s Stadium. A couple of players could be picked at #2 in the draft. We will hear about a few of those pass rushers until the draft. The mock drafts will go back and forth so be prepared for a long offseason.
