The Rams ran it seven straight plays to score. 7-0, bad guys.

It’s gameday once again and the 49ers are riding off their biggest start since 1990. Today they have their first divisional matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. We can say the same last week that we can this week, that this is the most important game on the schedule thus far to establish themselves as a threat in the NFL. This will be an afternoon game with a 1:05 start time. Dick Stockton will be calling the game with Mark Schlereth on color.

The 49ers are undefeated, but they have also looked very good doing it. Unlike some other strong beginnings (*cough* 2012 Cardinals), the 49ers have established themselves as one of the NFL’s best on both sides of the ball and have the film to back it up. They gave the Cleveland Browns a beat down in epic fashion on Monday Night Football and have one more game (this one) to really show the world just what it has with the 2019 49ers.

The Rams have had some issues. They won’t have running back Todd Gurley for Sunday along with pass rusher/linebacker Clay Matthews or cornerback Aqib Talib. That’s just the beginning. Their defense has taken a step back as a whole, even with Aaron Donald causing all sorts of chaos on the defensive line. If you want any proof, look to Week 4 for the double nickel dropped on them via the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Rams are vulnerable and if there ever was a time for the 49ers to beat them in Los Angeles, this is the time. However, doing so could be the knockout punch to put them out of the NFC West race. The Rams may be vulnerable, but the fact that the loss could put them in third place behind the Seattle Seahawks and 49ers means they won’t make it easy.

The 49ers will be without left tackle Joe Staley, fullback Kyle Juszczyk, right tackle Mike McGlinchey, and cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon.
