We’ll be taking a look back at the first few weeks from the San Francisco 49ers season throughout the week. From winners and losers to takeaways. Let’s start with the team’s most surprising players. I’ll start with Ahekllo Witherspoon. The cornerback will be missed more than words will ever explain. The lightbulb came on. Witherspoon was aggressive in both coverage and against the run, but he wasn’t reckless. Witherspoon wasn’t jumping routes or abandoning his assignment. He was trusting what he saw and making plays when they presented themselves.

There are plenty of options. Kwon Alexander has been the ideal linebacker for Robert Saleh’s scheme. When you talk about making plays, it’s impossible to leave out Alexander. On offense, Kyle Juszczyk has been far more effective than the box score could state. The 49ers are at their best when Juice is on the field.

Since we’re talking about surprising starts, it doesn’t have to be positive. The 49ers are undefeated, but there could be a player that has let you down to start the season. The injury bug still hates the Niners. The offense hasn’t played a game yet at full strength, and we may not see that until late November.

What do you think, who has been the most surprising player on the roster?
