On Saturday, the San Francisco 49ers first-round pick Nick Bosa said, “everybody’s going to have an impression of us after this game. We want it to be a 4-0, good impression. Opposed to a ‘fake undefeated team’ that people are kind of saying now.” For the younger players on the roster, it’s probably the first time they’ve been talked about in this fashion. Especially for Bosa, who comes from one of the most prestigious programs in college football, Ohio State. For the Buckeyes, if they didn’t make the college football playoff, it was a letdown.

I asked Richard Sherman if he prefers to be the hunted or the hunter, and he doesn’t care. He just wants to win:

What a perfect answer. That sounds like someone who has experienced it all. As Sherman said, the circumstances will change once the 49ers prove that they’re consistent. Win under the bright lights, and the attention will start to pour in.

The Browns were the media darlings headed into this season, and beating a “playoff caliber” opponent would look nice on the Niners resume. To me, if San Francisco went 10-0 and beat the Bengals ten times, I’d be impressed. It’s a bottom-line business, and you have to beat the teams that the NFL schedules. The Bears were favorites by a touchdown on Sunday, and they lost. The Colts were 11-point underdogs, and they won. The Packers, Broncos, and Bills were all predicted to lose by more than three points, and each of those teams pulled out a victory. Craziness happens every week in the NFL. Good teams beat bad opponents. It doesn’t have to be pretty, but they win.

We won’t hear another mention of the schedule if the 49ers start 4-0 for the first time since 1990. It’s going to be a great night. Here are some links.
