Second update: Turns out Shanahan told Cardinals media Kittle is out. So, there you have it.
Moments after talking with media in Santa Clara, Kyle Shanahan told writers from Arizona that George Kittle would not play. Shanahan was not asked about Kittle today by Bay Area media. He previously said he would not rule out Kittle early in week because he’s a "different bird." https://t.co/tA8zUGMg3o— Matt Maiocco (@MaioccoNBCS) November 14, 2019
UPDATE: It turns out Shanahan simply said Kittle would not practice on Wednesday. Not that he would sit out Sunday.
#49ers Kyle Shanahan only confirmed that LT Joe Staley and NT D.J. Jones would be ruled out for #AZvsSF this afternoon.— Jennifer Lee Chan (@jenniferleechan) November 14, 2019
In regards to George Kittle, he only said that the tight end would not practice today.
The San Francisco 49ers ended practice a little over an hour ago and Kyle Shanahan provided some injury updates. The head coach ruled George Kittle out for Sunday’s game. He’s still battling an ankle/knee injury that prevented him from suiting up Monday night against the Seahawks. That’s a big loss, as Kittle dominated the Cardinals when the two teams faced a couple of weeks ago.
Joe Staley underwent surgery on his dislocated/fractured finger and is expected to miss a couple of games. Shanahan said that Justin Skule is “most likely” to replace Staley. Here is the injury report from Wednesday’s practice:
