The 49ers finished up Friday’s practice and star tight end George Kittle didn’t practice, which means he likely won’t play Sunday against the Cardinals. Kittle was working on the side of the field rehabbing while the other players were practicing:

This will be another tough week for the offense, but you have to imagine Kyle Shanahan has been preparing to play the Cardinals without Kittle. Shanahan told reporters that Kittle “is definitely better this week than he was last week.” Kittle was reportedly looking spry around the locker room and should return to practice next week. He told reporters, “I’m feeling fantastic.”
Shanahan also said that “there’s no doubt about it,” when asked if the team needs to protect Kittle from himself. Shanahan said Kittle played through the Halloween matchup with the same injury that kept him out of Seattle and will likely prevent him from playing Sunday.
Here’s who likely won’t play:
Doubtful
TE Kittle
K Gould
RB Breida
Out
LT Staley
NT Jones
Shanahan said he expects cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon to be available Sunday so long as there is no setback between now and then. Witherspoon will be listed as questionable. Here are the other players listed:
WR Emmanuel Sanders (ribs)
LB Azeez Al-Shaair (concussion)
RB Raheem Mostert (knee)
WR Dante Pettis (back)
Ahkello Witherspoon(foot)
Sanders said, “he’s going to try to battle it out.” That sounds like somebody that isn’t going to miss a game. That’s big for San Francisco, who can use a reliable threat on the perimeter.
