Golden Nuggets: How many teams could Kap start for right now?

We shared Colin Kaepernick’s live throwing session from Saturday afternoon. He looked like a quarterback that could start for a dozen or so teams in the NFL. Kaepernick has always had a strong arm. That wasn’t going away. You also saw some downfield accuracy that many questioned. Here’s what the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback had to say:

The reason Kap wanted to live stream is the reason we saw on the interwebs yesterday. Some major media that will go unnamed couldn’t wait to talk about what the quarterback did wrong. It’s amazing to me. The stream is there for all of us to see.

Which brings me to the question, how many teams could Kaepernick start for today? Here’s my list. I’m omitting teams like the Bills and Browns, for example, that are invested in young quarterbacks.

Dolphins

Broncos

Steelers

Bengals

Titans

Jaguars

Bears

Panthers

There is no doubt in my mind that, with the surrounding talent, the Bears and Panthers are playoff locks if they improve their quarterback situation. Mitch Trubisky was a first-round pick just two years ago. A die-hard Bears’ fan will tell you he’s not the answer, and they dread watching him play. With Cam Newton out, Kyle Allen is holding back an offense with some talented skill players and one of the best running backs in the game. Could you picture Kapernick and McCaffrey in the backfield together? Assuming Colin can still run, which probably isn’t a fair assumption to make since it’s been three seasons.

The teams in the AFC could all stand to upgrade unless they are purposely tanking. What say you?
