Sorry, we neglected this, but the 49ers have had a wild finish and are not on the receiving end of the heartbreaker. They have closed out the Cardinals in a 36-26 finish that was closer than that score indicates.

Scoring Update:

After winning a pass interference challenge the Cardinals were knocking on the door, but the 49ers answered and held them to a field goal. it’s 3-0, Cardinals.

Overview

Well, let’s get that taste out of our mouths. The San Francisco 49ers are in another divisional game this week. Hopefully this time they can win it. They stay at home to take on the Arizona Cardinals in their second meeting within three weeks. This will be an afternoon game with a 1:05 start time. Chris Myers and Daryl Johnston will be calling it this time.

The 49ers hit a brick wall when they ran into the Seattle Seahawks. After injuries to just about the whole roster, it let the Seahawks escape Levi’s Field with a win and the 49ers are now back to the laundry list of IR. Keep in mind, this win came after a bizarre practice injury sent Robbie Gould to the sideline and the 49ers were stuck with a rookie kicker (there’s that Seahawk luck for you). The 49ers have been trying to prove to the NFL they are legitimate and for real and after one loss, there are still some who want to pile on them and say they are not contenders. People forget winning eight straight in the NFL isn’t exactly easy.

The 49ers are into the second-half gauntlet of their schedule. After the Cardinals they will have the Green Bay Packers on deck and New Orleans Saints shortly after that. Every win from here on out counts, especially when they are playing top-tier competition the rest of the way.

The Cardinals have been getting a bit better on both sides of the ball and Kliff Kingsbury’s air-raid offense seems to have been getting a bit more productive as time went on. You might say the rebuild has been expedited with the way quarterback Kyler Murray is playing. The last time these two teams faced each other was in Arizona, on a short week, and now the Cardinals come to Levis. If the Cardinals really do match up to the 49ers like they seemed to on Halloween, we’re about to find out.

The 49ers go into this with a large list of players out. So far the sure sideline-sitter is Joe Staley who was out per the practice report and George Kittle who is OUT per Adam Schefter. Kicker Robbie Gould, and running back Matt Breida are listed as doubtful.

The Cardinals are without defensive end Jonathan Bullard and running back Chase Edmonds. Cornerback Tramaine Brock, defensive end Zach Kerr, tackle Justin Murray, and linebacker Terrell Suggs are all questionable.
