The San Francisco 49ers returned to the practice field Wednesday, and Kyle Shanahan provided a few updates. Dee Ford, George Kittle, and Joe Staley didn’t practice on Wednesday. No need to panic about Kittle, as this is just part of his recovery process. Shanahan confirmed he didn’t re-injure his ankle/knee or suffer any new injuries.
Shanahan mentioned that if Staley can’t go, it’ll be between Daniel Brunskill and Justin Skule to see who starts at left tackle, but I think we all know the answer there. Brunskill wasn’t beaten all game against Green Bay, and pretty clearly gives the offense the best chance to succeed.
Matt Breida, Deebo Samuel, and Emmanuel Sanders were all limited in Wednesday’s practice. Breida will likely be a game-time decision again, while the two wideouts should suit up again. Blowing out Green Bay gave Sanders rest and allowed the team to limit any unnecessary hits on him. Being good has its perks.
While Ford isn’t practicing, Shanahan said he still has a chance to play Sunday. Here is the practice report for Wednesday:
DNP
DE Dee Ford
TE George Kittle
LT Joe Staley
Limited
RB Matt Breida
WR Emmanuel Sanders
WR Deebo Samuel
Full
K Robbie Gould
Gould has been cleared to return, which means he should return to action Sunday against the Ravens. Speaking of, Richie James is playing the role of Lamar Jackson in practice this week.
