The 49ers are expecting a few players back from injury this week, and with them comes a major question: What should the 49ers do when Ahkello Witherspoon returns? If fully healthy, should he start next week? He was the top rated corner before his injury, but Emmanuel Moseley has been rated as a top ten corner since stepping in. Yes, Moseley had a rough game on Thursday, but the defense as a whole struggled that night. That leads me to believe it’s less about Moseley and more due to the fact that Thursday Night Football is an abomination that doesn’t allow players enough time to heal up from the previous game.
Personally, I don’t think he should start immediately simply because it’s not easy to just jump right back into action after an injury. I would start out by having him come off the bench to help shake off rust and get him back into game shape. After that, however, I just don’t know. Players shouldn’t lose their spot because of injury, but players also shouldn’t get benched after playing well. Whatever they decide to do, I am a whole lot more confident in the future of the position after Richard Sherman leaves. What are your thoughts?
