How Jimmy Garoppolo can carry the 49ers to the Super Bowl

Jimmy Garoppolo finally had the performance we’ve all been waiting to see. The 49ers won 28-25 victory over the Cardinals on Thursday Night Football, and Jimmy set personal records with his highest QB rating (136.9), and the most touchdowns were thrown in a game (4). The Cardinals’ defensive game plan revolved around stacking the line to stop the 49ers’ ground attack and see if Jimmy G could beat them through the air. The Cardinals used a diamond front, which is five men on the line of scrimmage, to overpower the 49ers offensive line, which is the lightest in the league. They played three massive defensive ends on the center and two guards and used Terrell Suggs and Chandler Jones on the end of the line of scrimmage. At the snap, they would roll a safety onto the line of scrimmage to create a six-man front, which held the 49ers to 3.3 yards per carry. They challenged Jimmy to win the game, so that’s exactly what he did.

I broke down a few of his biggest plays, including Spider 2 Y In, a variation of Gruden’s

Spider 2 Y Banana. He played incredible and showed he has what it takes to carry the 49ers to the Super Bowl.
