NFL: San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals

It only took a week for the 49ers to give up the top seed in the NFC. With their loss on Sunday to the Atlanta Falcons, they drop to the 5th seed and they would face either the Dallas Cowboys or Philadelphia Eagles on wild card weekend if the playoffs started this weekend. But the Niners still hold their playoff destiny in their hands. If they and Seattle win their Week 16 matchups, the last game of the season in Seattle would settle who wins the NFC West title, the #1 seed, a 1st round bye, and home-field throughout the playoffs. No big deal!

The Niners secondary could get some reinforcements this week with Richard Sherman and K’Waun Williams practicing in walkthroughs on Tuesday. Both players were out this past Sunday and it showed with Julio Jones taking complete advantage of the depleted secondary. Jaquiski Tartt, who is dealing with a broken rib, may be able to practice today and if they can get him back, that would be a massive boost for the team. They need their guys healthy for the Week 17 matchup and the playoff run.

The Pro Bowl rosters were announced on Tuesday and the 49ers had 4 players selected. Richard Sherman, Nick Bosa, George Kittle, and Kyle Juszczyk were selected to represent the team in Orlando. Nick Bosa becomes the 1st 49er to make the roster in his rookie season since Patrick Willis did it back in 2007. As the #2 pick, he was expected to be a huge piece for this defense and he has been an absolute star for the defense’s turnaround. He has the opportunity to make a bunch of these moving forward. While all four of them will be very happy to be selected, they will be looking to miss this game so they can focus on one that is way more important down in Miami. All they have to do is keep winning football games.
