The 2019 NFL regular season comes to an end today and this year we won’t be watching the San Francisco 49ers final game. The 49ers are headed to the playoffs no matter what, it’s just a matter of if they can take care of their business tonight and get that coveted first seed and first-round bye.
Which leads us to Week 17. The 49ers could be playing substitutes today, but they had to lose to the Atlanta Falcons so that’s not happening. Other teams will have to be playing their starters as well. The Green Bay Packers have the Detroit Lions while the New Orleans Saints have the Minnesota Vikings. A loss to the Packers and a Saints win moves the Packers out of the 2nd seed and the Saints into that spot. Speaking of the Packers, the 49ers would have this thing locked up if they had the NFC East on their schedule. That’s all I’ll say there on that subject.
So Packers Lions and Saints-Panthers. Those are both divisional games and no gimmes.
Meanwhile the rest of the NFL has their own issues. For instance the New England Patriots have to win a game to get a first-round bye as well. And they play the Miami Dolphins. Must be nice!
The Two games on AFC to watch are the Tennesee Titans vs. Houston Texans and Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens. Depending on how the Titans or Steelers do, that can shape up the entire playoff picture for that final seeding. Meanwhile the Raiders have a shot if there’s absolute chaos in the AFC.
