Antonio Brown wants guaranteed money, and to be called Mr. Big Chest

This has taken a turn for the surreal.

I don’t know whether or not Antonio Brown will get traded, but in some ways this has veered into Terrell Owens territory. TO is one of the greatest receivers of all time, but for a lot of folks, the video of him doing situps in his driveway has become a lasting image. Brown has decided to one-up.

The Pittsburgh Steelers receiver took to Instagram Live while doing some cardio work to speak to his fans and also to tell NFL teams that might be watching to hit give him a call. Given that he is under contract with the Steelers, that would be tampering, but that hasn’t really stopped teams in the past from reaching out to agents.

You can view all nine minutes of the video down below, but I’ve pulled out some notable comments. The funniest comment is him telling people to call him Mr. Big Chest. He showed his chest, which is pretty big, and I eagerly await the first person wearing a custom Mr. Big Chest jersey.

More importantly, he said he wants with that “got guaranteed money” to call him. He didn’t specifically say he wants a new contract, but it seems pretty obvious he does. He is signed through 2021, and due base salaries of $12,625,000, $11,300,000, and $12,500,000. Additionally, he is due a $2.5 million roster bonus this coming March. He has no guaranteed money on his deal, so if he is released under his current deal, his team would owe him no money. If traded, the remaining $21,120,000 in pro-rated signing bonus money would roll up on the Steelers salary cap, but there would be no future cash to be paid out.

This is not a shocking development, but it adds a wrinkle that will likely only serve to lessen the demand on the trade market. A team would likely be open to doing a new deal, but given that he turns 31 this summer, I can’t imagine teams offering anything sizable beyond maybe a three-year deal. And that might even be pushing it for some teams.

Here’s some of what Brown had to say last night, followed by the full video.

“If any NFL teams are out there watching, hit my phone, hit my phone. If one of them teams out there where the camaraderie bad, the energy bad, the players haters, I don’t want to play there. I don’t wanna go there. I don’t wanna waste no time. You heard?”

“If your squad out there want to win and your squad want a hungry wide receiver who’s the best in the whole world, someone hit my phone. Tell them I ain’t doing no unguarantees. I ain’t even gonna play myself no more for this NFL, you heard? I think I done everything. What y’all think? What left for me to do? Win a Super Bowl? Gotta be the right team for that, right?”

“If your team got guaranteed money, tell them call me. AB can’t do no more unguarantees.”

“If your team got guaranteed money, they want to get to know me and work with me, tell ‘em call me ... I ain’t got time to waste. I got five kids, you heard?”

“Call me Mr. Big Chest, Big Chest from now on, Big Chest Brown from now one. Don’t even call me AB, just call me Big Chest, yeah Mr. Big Chest. Tell your team I’m maxing out and if they want me tell them to be maxing out, you heard?”
