The Chargers brought back their nose tackle, Brandon Mebane. He’s a guy that is familiar with the defense the 49ers run. Terrific run stuffer:

Pat’s Update: No Thomas to Browns
Yes, was told on all fronts they were not working toward a deal, as had been reported. Not saying it can’t happen at some point but it was not happening last night. https://t.co/yS6UGr0l1r— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) March 13, 2019
Welcome to Day 3 of free agency. This afternoon at 1 p.m. PT players can officially sign, but in reality, things are starting to slow down; all the big signings are done. The NFL went into a flurry late Tuesday night with the trades of New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns and Kansas City Chiefs pass rusher Dee Ford going to none other than the San Francisco 49ers. To cap things off, Le’Veon Bell has a new home with the New York Jets.
There is of course the one name everyone should be looking at: Earl Thomas. There were reports that the Cleveland Browns may be interested, but there wasn’t any concrete deals coming out. Could the 49ers swing back in? Wow, that’d be something wouldn’t it? Kwon Alexander, Dee Ford, and Earl Thomas. Say what you want about Alexander, that would be a decent haul in free agency.
Also Bradley Roby, who was in talks with the 49ers, is going to the Houston Texans on a one-year deal. The 49ers were definitely putting him on a prove-it deal like they have with other cornerbacks like Richard Sherman, sounds like they couldn’t agree on anything.
We’ll continue to update this thread today as things continue. Keep an eye out for Thomas.
