Welcome to Day 4 of free agency. As of writing this, the biggest names are long gone. Wednesday we saw Earl Thomas go to the Baltimore Ravens. We also saw the Kansas City Chiefs release Eric Berry. A couple other 49er targets signed as well. Tyrell Williams is with the Oakland Raiders. Pierre Desir re-signed with the Indianapolis Colts.
Now that we’re on the second and third wave of free agents, it’ll be interesting to see the teams plan continue to unfold. I’ve seen arguments all over the place. Some think they are investing poorly at positions that aren’t of value. Others are happy that the team is bringing in talent. Tevin Coleman is a player than can add value in the passing game. Kyle Shanahan used to line him up in the slot. The last year the two were together, Coleman had 59 snaps where he lined up as a true receiver.
So, what’s next? A veteran wide receiver? Some help at CB? Another Chief?
There are a few names out there that the team would be wise to pass on.
We’ll continue to update this thread today as things continue. Keep an eye out for secondary help today. Even with bringing back Jimmie Ward.
