Report: 49ers sign CB Jason Verrett to one-year, $3.6 million deal

49ers add some help in the secondary

According to Adam Schefter, the San Francisco 49ers are signing former Chargers first-round draft pick Jason Verrett to a one-year, $3.6 million deal. Verrett has had some serious injury issues. He also has enormous amount of talent. Verrett’s lone year as a starter he made the Pro Bowl. He had a 60% success rate that year. That was back when Darrelle Revis was still Revis. His success rate that year? 61%. So yeah, Verrett can play.

Hopefully with a fresh start, Verrett is able to move past the troubled injury past. He’s a great person and a guy that teammates love. He’ll be easy to root for when you get a chance to watch him play. It’ll be interesting to see how the 49ers plan on using him. The Chargers started him out in the slot. It wasn’t long before he was following Antonio Brown around. This was in his first true year in the NFL. That tells you the type of talent he is. But that was a long time ago. Verrett coming in on a prove it deal to challenge Akhello Witherspoon and Tarvarius Moore will be healthy for all players. Competition will bring the best out of everyone.
