It’s been a busy week for the San Francisco 49ers front office. Earlier in the week, they were courting Alabama’s stud defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. One day later they had two meals with Ohio State star edge rusher Nick Bosa. Today is the pro day of another highly touted defender. Kentucky’s Josh Allen was supposed to workout and do drills today. He’s opting to stand on his results from the combine., just like Bosa and Williams.

Allen ran fast, but wasn’t didn’t just explosive, nor did he time relatively quick. He is expected to go in the top five of the draft. For awhile, Allen was thought to be the 49ers pick. Then the Kyler Murray became a thing.

Then the Niners signed Dee Ford. Allen seems more like a run and chase guy that can also rush the passer. If the intent is for Allen to play as an off the ball linebacker, is that really worth a top two pick? He better be Patrick Willis. I’m not sure if the team would have made the trip if Allen was working out or not. Or if this means there is a lack of interest. It is information, though. That’s what we want.
