Per Field Yates, the San Francisco 49ers have traded LB Dekoda Watson and pick 212 to the Broncos for pick 148. Watson was likely going to be depth or a camp body with the addition of two linebackers during free agency.

From The Athletics’s Dave Lombardi:

“The 49ers had a glut of defensive linemen. Watson likely wasn’t going to make the team. Makes it a sound trade by default, as the 49ers previously had a fifth-round gap between their upcoming fourth round pick and 4 sixth rounders.”

General manager John Lynch is doing what he does on the third day of the draft, maneuvering up and down to improve his roster. He’s already traded back once this morning to acquire two additional sixth round picks. Usually when you trade up like this on the third day of the draft, a guy falls that your team is in love with. We’ll see who the team selects at No. 148.
