GM John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan signed 6 year deals just days apart from each other 2 seasons ago. There was a lot of excitement with the young offensive genius and a new face at GM joining the team, but their record in the 2 seasons since arriving is 10-22. While the results have not been what they wanted, the relationship between to the 2 men seems to have been good. But a new report came out on Tuesday reporting that their relationship may be experiencing some friction.
Rumors of friction between a GM and head coach is not new for the 49ers. The 49ers former GM, Trent Baalke had an infamous feud with Jim Harbaugh that led to Jim leaving for college football. The 49ers are hoping this new rumor is not true. Kyle tried to immediately squash those rumors by reaching out to a local reporter to deny those rumors. Lynch and Shanahan look to have a solid relationship during media conferences and this is the 1st leak to come out of the organization since they started on the job. But if the team does not start winning games next season, the relationship could go south very quick.
The 49ers signed their 1st draft pick in punter Mitch Wishnowky. He was taken in the 4th round after playing 3 years with the University of Utah. He comes in after signing a 4 year contract.
