I may be a bit of a homer but I truly believe in Kyle Shanahan’s ability to find and coach wide receivers. I really liked what I saw in Dante Pettis towards the end of last season and I think Deebo Samuels has the tools to be even better. Those two have the potential to be the best wide receiver duo the 49ers have had in a long time. I think it is only a matter of time before they become unstoppable in three WR sets with Goodwin stretching the field and leaving them to wreak havoc underneath.
Jimmy Garoppolo showed us just how good he was at hitting his wide receivers in full stride with midrange throws in 2017. Couple that with the receiving weapons we have picked up in the 2018 and 2019 drafts and you can see this has the potential to be something truly special.
Now add in George Kittle at tight end and a couple of very good receiving running backs and things begin to look amazingly exciting. You can talk about Hurd’s versatility all you want or about which other wide receivers are going to make the team. It really doesn’t matter a whole lot when Deebo and Pettis are going to make it so extremely hard to take them off the field. I honestly have not been this excited about our passing game in over twenty years.
