As we continue to push through the quietest part of the offseason, fans and media alike are given the opportunity to reflect on past seasons and players, reminiscing about our favorite games, plays, and other memories.

Our own Kyle Posey put together a piece the other day asking readers When they first knew they were a 49ers fan, and in the Nuggets last week we had an opportunity to ask if there was a single game that started it all for 49ers fans. A ton of great stories and memories from fans in the comment threads, I encourage everyone to take a look if you haven’t yet.

Looking for more nostalgia? Oscar and David have spent the past two weeks on the Better Rivals podcast analyzing two of the most important games in 49ers history: the 1994 NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl XXIII. Their analysis was in depth and they did a great job offering a fresh perspective on both games, I highly recommend giving them a listen.

So what to discuss today? How about the top five 49ers RB of all time?

The obvious: Frank Gore and Roger Craig. Not much needs to be said here. When the question is asked, these two names are the first to come to mind for most Niners fans. They’re in.

The not so obvious: Joe Perry and Hugh McElhenney. To say that both were before my time would be an understatement. My dad is 69 years old and both started their 49ers careers before he was 3. But they played the bulk of their careers with the Niners and both are Hall of Famers so it would be hard to leave them off the list.

So who’s number 5? You decide! I’ve added the most obvious choices, my apologies if I left your favorite out. Vote in the poll and state your case in the comments section, and don’t forget to check out the links below!
