When San Francisco 49ers cornerback Jason Verrett spoke with the media after minicamp, he said: “I feel like I’m going to be on track to be ready for training camp and the rest of the season.” Verrett tore his Achilles before the start of last season during the first five minutes of a conditioning test with the Los Angeles Chargers. That kept him sidelined during the 49ers offseason program.
On Monday evening, Verrett posted videos of him working out on Instagram where you can see him doing change-of-direction drills that simulate movements you’d do at defensive back. Verrett mentioned a couple of weeks ago that the training staff had a plan for him all along, and how everything was on schedule. If these videos are any indication, Verrett should be full-go when the 49ers report to camp July 26.
Here is a look at the four videos Verrett posted:

The 49ers won’t just hand Verrett the starting job opposite of Richard Sherman. He’ll need to show that he can still play at the level he did a few years back. Verrett will also need to prove that he is dependable. Training camp will be full of positional battles for the 49ers. Verrett versus Ahkello Witherspoon will be one of the better battles to monitor.
