On Wednesday afternoon the San Francisco 49ers signed defensive lineman Damontre Moore. The New York Giants initially drafted Moore, (6-4, 260,) in the third round (81st overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. Throughout his six-year career with the Giants (2013-15), Miami Dolphins (2015), Seattle Seahawks (2016), Dallas Cowboys (2017) and Oakland Raiders (2018), he has appeared in 54 games and registered 63 tackles, 10.0 sacks, four passes defended and two forced fumbles. He signed with the 49ers on April 5, 2019, and was waived by the team on May 16.
Last season, he was signed by the Raiders on December 4, 2018, appeared in two games with the team and registered one tackle before being waived on December 24, 2018. He later signed with the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football (AAF) where he recorded 22 tackles, 7.0 sacks, and one fumble recovery.
A 26-year-old native of Rowlett, TX, Moore attended Texas A&M University (2010-12), where he appeared in 38 games (23 starts) and registered 197 tackles, 26.5 sacks, 45 tackles for a loss, eight forced fumbles and one interception.
Moore will fight during training camp to make the roster for a team that could use a quality pass rusher off the edge for 2019 and beyond. The former third-rounder gets another shot on a one-year deal.
