Making room for anyone?

The San Francisco 49ers today announced they had waived DB Alex Brown.

Brown (5-11, 170) originally joined the 49ers after signing with the team as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 16, 2019, out of South Carolina State University. He appeared in 31 games (25 starts) during his five years with the Bulldogs (2014-18) and registered 90 tackles, 26 passes defended, seven interceptions and one sack.

Fred Warner shouted Brown out during the spring as a player that stood out. Brown may very well be back. We will see. This release could mean the team is making room for a draft pick.

The rumor was that Deebo Samuel would sign his contract at some point today. On Instagram this morning, Samuel shouted out Brown, indicating he will sign his contract when Samuel reaches Santa Clara when his flight lands. Maybe I’m reading too much into this, who knows. We will see if Samuel can get a deal done before the 49ers reach training camp.
