On Friday morning the San Francisco 49ers showed their support by giving personalized jerseys to Abby Dahlkemper and Tierna Davidson. Both players from the Women’s National World Cup team are from Menlo Park, California. Davidson played three years at Stanford, so there’s a John Lynch joke there. Dahlkemper played her college ball at UCLA. The two ladies from the Bay Area received words of encouragement from Lynch ahead of today’s big game.
Best on Sunday @AbbyDahlkemper & @tierna_davidson. You ladies are awesome and have definitely made us all proud! https://t.co/bCFUiP2NKg

I’m not the biggest soccer fan in the world, but Tuesday’s match against England was exciting. Plenty of action to keep us casual fans entertained. Much was made about Alex Morgan “sipping tea” after she scored. I’m in the camp that if you don’t want the player to celebrate, don’t let them score.
When the women were up almost two touchdowns to Thailand a couple of weeks ago and still celebrating, that was awesome. This is a sport. You should have fun. The match kicks off at the top of the hour, 8 a.m. PT. You can watch the game on Fox. The US are favorites by one goal.
