UPDATE 12:08 p.m.
Shon Coleman underwent surgery this morning to repair a fractured fibula and dislocated ankle. It appears he’s headed for the IR.
Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the San Francisco 49ers swing offensive tackle Shon Coleman suffered a dislocated ankle last night in their preseason game and his recovery is expected to be several months. Nobody is going to confuse Coleman with Joe Staley, but he is far and away the third-best tackle on the roster. The 49ers have said that Coleman’s season is over, according to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle.
The offense struggled to be consistent with the likes of Willie Beavers and Daniel Brunskill on the field. If it weren’t for a couple of big plays, I’m not sure the touchdowns would have happened.
According to NBC Sports Matt Maiocco, Garry Gilliam, who served in that role the past two seasons, remains a free agent and a logical option. He’s received interest/offers from multiple teams, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Arizona Cardinals.
