When the San Francisco 49ers drafted Nick Bosa second overall in the 2019 NFL Draft, the only real negatives were if Bosa would be able to recover and stay healthy for an entire season fully. He has suffered a couple of injuries that have kept him from participating in OTAs and now training camp. The most recent injury Bosa had no control over. Bosa got rolled up on by another player while he was engaged with a linemen.
If the 49ers are going to make the playoffs or have a record above .500, they need Bosa to be on the field. Even though he’s a rookie, there aren’t going to be many offensive tackles that are able to contain the former Ohio State standout. When players are dominant at every level, they’ve ever played, that doesn’t just stop in the NFL. Bosa had some quality 1-on-1 battles with Joe Staley during training camp. If he was bringing the best out of Staley, imagine what he would do against even an average left tackle. To be clear, there aren’t many average tackles in the league.
Bosa needs to play, though. The Niners need him and Dee Ford to wreak havoc, and to take the pressure off the other defenders. That is the chance John Lynch took. Here is the question, will Bosa play more than 12 games this season?
