George Kittle, C.J. Beathard, and Deebo Samuel miss practice on Tuesday

No major injuries, don’t worry.

The San Francisco 49ers returned to practice Tuesday in preparation for their second preseason game against the Denver Broncos. They’ll fly to Denver Thursday night, and then on Friday and Saturday, the Niners will have a joint practice with the Broncos.

Three key players sat out of Tuesday’s practice. Tight end George Kittle was sidelined with calf tightness. You have to imagine if it were a game he would have played. There’s no need for him to push any injury in August.

Wide receiver Deebo Samuel was excused from practice due to personal reasons. Kyle Shanahan will likely give us the reason if Samuel misses another day. We hope that everything is okay.

C.J. Beathard missed practice with a sore thumb. Shanahan mentioned how he hurt his thumb during the last play before he was taken out. He also said that’s not the reason Beathard was pulled, citing that Wilton Speight was going to go in during the next series no matter what.

According to Matt Barrows of The Athletic, Dre Greenlaw and Levine Toilolo didn’t finish practice as well. We will provide updates once we have them.

Arik Armstead, Malcolm Smith, and Jeff Wilson all returned to practice. Jimmie Ward is wearing a blue non-contact jersey, and is participating in individual drills.
