San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle had a season for the ages in 2018. Entering the game against the Los Angeles Rams, Kittle was 99 yards short of the single-season record for a tight end record for receiving yards, which was previously held by New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. Kittle broke the record on a 43-yard touchdown.

Kittle joined NFL Network’s film gurus Ron Jaworski and Brian Baldinger to break down some of his biggest plays from a season ago. Kittle said he was unaware of what the record was until about Week 12 when the tight ends’ coach told him that he was close and the Niners were going to go for the record if he kept playing well.

Below is the full video where Kittle mentions some of the play calls, and goes in-depth about what he is seeing on the field. Head coach Kyle Shanahan was aware of the record. During the Denver Broncos game, Shanahan mentions to Kittle as the two are walking out to shake hands, “You are the site decorum man, dude. I am so sick that I didn’t get you five more yards.”
