Kendrick Bourne with a catch

Yep, after a maddening drop, Kendrick Bourne made a diving catch for a ball that might not have even been intended for him. The kick makes the score 20-14, Chargers

Scoring Update:

The 49ers actually put some semblance to a goalline stand, but the Chargers managed to get in anyways with a QB roll out. There was a vicious hit on the dive, but the ball broke the plane. It’s 20-7, Chargers.

Kendrick Bourne with a drop

C.J. Beathard may be slotted in for No. 3, but his receivers certainly aren’t helping him get to No. 2. Kendrick Bourne had a pass on the MONEY and dropped it. Just way off with timing to haul it in.

And yes, while he dropped that pass, the 49ers might drop him. He’s on a bubble to make the roster and those drops are inexcusible.

Scoring update:

After penalties and a COOL Dre Greenlaw sack, the Chargers punched it in. It’s now 13-7, Chargers.

Scoring Update:

Good lord, it’s 7-6 and Jeff Wilson Jr. makes a team. It might not be the 49ers, but he had to have made a team.

A week from today, the NFL regular season hits. This is the final preseason game for the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Chargers are coming to town.

Being the fourth preseason game, don’t expect many starters on the field. The fourth game is a game for the coaching staff to get a final look at some of the players they are undecided about and for the rest of the league to get a look at who they may want to bring in when roster cuts happen.

For 49ers fans, there will be one final look at the backup quarterback battle between Nick Mullens and C.J. Beathard. Depending on the time one or the other spends on the field, we may be able to draw some conclusions on who is going to be the No. 2 quarterback. Outside of them, it may be the final time 37 players on that roster put on a uniform. Given that the 49ers bench most of their starters in Week 4, if you see a fringe UDFA starting, it could mean that player is giving the league, not the 49ers, a look.

The game will also be broadcast on the NFL Network.
