Who is the fourth 49ers running back?

Kyle Shanahan made it clear the 49ers will not keep five running backs, how do you see this shaking out?

Really, all I wanted to do was show this gem again:

Ok, now that that’s out of the way. Jeff Wilson Jr. has made the running back position a bit harder when roster cutdowns happen. Might as well add Austin Walter in there if you want to due to the fact he was a slippery little devil.

But now comes the roster cuts and tough decisions. The 49ers have to figure out what to do with Jerrick McKinnon, while Matt Breida, Tevin Coleman and Raheem Mostert seem like locks.

Or maybe not. Whatever you decide, the 49ers have a loaded backfield and tough decisions to make. Not counting Kyle Juszczyk, Kyle Shanahan has a maximum number of running backs in mind.

“We’re not going to keep five halfbacks,” said Shanahan in his post-game press conference.

Ok, so less than five. Let’s look at these numbers. Once more. Assuming Coleman, Breida, and Mostert make the team, the 49ers have one more running back to take. McKinnon is injured while Wilson and Walter looked good in Week 4 of the preseason.

So it’s time for us to play armchair GM. which running backs do you see the 49ers running with. Keep in mind, this is just for the start of the season. The 49ers could decide to put Jerick McKinnon on IR and bring him back at some point.

How do you see the 49ers beginning 2019?
