Jimmy Garoppolo hasn’t thrown a single pick in 11-on-11 drills

Eight days without an accident

Pat’s update: The streak is over

There’s been a lot more optimism in 2019’s training camp for the San Francisco 49ers and a lot of that has been on quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. No, it’s not his recovery from that nasty knee injury or the fact he’s got a second full year learning terminology and Kyle Shanahan’s playbook, it’s his performance on 11-on-11 drills.

Garoppolo hasn’t thrown a single pick yet.

We’re heading into Day 9 of camp and Jimmy G hasn’t thrown any interceptions. Now, let’s be very, very clear: he’s had some close calls, but no one on an opposing defense has yet come down with the ball, hence, no interception.

So is this a big deal? Well, Aaron Rodgers has already thrown picks in his training camp. Jimmy G has been squeaky clean. You decide.

When I told Kyle I was going to inform everyone of this milestone, this “eight days without an accident,” he gave me sincere warnings that I was going to jinx the entire 49ers season by talking about this. No, I am not. I’m not here to jinx, I’m here to inform.

I’m just here to tell you guys, the 49ers have not lost a game, Nick Bosa has not been out of practice an extended period of time, and Jimmy Garoppolo has not thrown a pick in 11-on-11s.

You can all go about your day. But with a smile. No accidents for eight days.
