Practice finished up a bit ago, and Kyle Shanahan provided the media with injury updates heading into the first week of the preseason, and some expectations for who will be available for Week 1 against Dallas.

Shanahan said the team is “hoping” to get Nick Bosa back by the regular season. He said the same with Jason Verrett. The two will continue to be evaluated. We already knew that. The surprise came with K’Waun Williams. Shanahan said Williams had his knee scoped recently and will miss the entire preseason. That opens the door for both DJ Reed and Emmanuel Moseley. Moseley had an excellent play today at practice where he broke up a pass to Kittle.

Jerick McKinnon has been suffering some soreness the past two days and will be shut down for a while. Once you’ve been activated from the PUP list, you cannot return. So if there are any more setbacks, McKinnon might have to go in IR and be designated for return. McKinnon is having a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment. He’ll have two weeks to recover, then 18 days after that before Week 1 of the regular season. “If he’s ready, that would be great,” Shanahan said. “If not, we’ll be patient with him.”

Arik Armstead and Ronald Blair are both day-to-day. They will likely miss Saturday’s exhibition game. The starting defensive line today was DeForest Buckner and Solomon Thomas on the edge, with Sheldon Day and DJ Jones inside.

Shanahan didn’t give an update on Weston Richburg, but he did say the hope is for him to return Week 1 against Tampa Bay. Richburg has been getting in work off to the side.
